About Us Canada has almost a million Americans resident in Canada is the second country next to Mexico with the most American’s living “overseas” and in 2000 the figure was estimated by ACA with the assistance of the State Department in Washington to be approximately 900,000! This figure is a estimate of gross numbers of Americans presumed to be residing in Canada. As registration overseas is not required (less than 1000 US Citizens in Canada have done so), an exact figure is not available and US Citizenship is not segregated on the Canadian census. This figure includes American Citizens holding passports, those not holding passports, those of dual nationality and those presumed eligible for American Citizenship. American’s in Canada, while numerous, are below the “radar screen” for a number of reasons including the close links of the culture and business across the border, the proximity to American information, the closeness of the American border and the common media all contribute. Americans feel at home in Canada, and many families boast of relations residing on both sides of the border which has occurred for some 150 years. In a similar fashion many Canadians reside in the United States. Still American Citizens have something which is still unique which
is a love of country irrespective of where one works and lives. This
connectedness is perhaps unique in the history of the world in light
of immigration and emigration throughout the modern world. There is
a connection, a link of nationality exercised through citizenship
and the values that accompany it.
